Behind a song

Heading off to summer vacation soon? You need a playlist for the 8-hour commute, beach parties, or poolside getaways with your BFFs. At Scrunchie, we're all about retro music. We're offering a selection of music and a few anecdotes (to share by the fire). Let's have a break, on the summer road, behind the lyrics!

A NOT SO INNOCENT SONG

Serge Gainsbourg, an artist as tumultuous and unpredictable as he is poetic, is the author of the famous songLes Sucettes . Who could have missed its very daring double meaning ? The first one concerned, obviously... France Gall , naive as a child, (we can well imagine her, in the studio, a foulchie -if it had existed, sorry, we were too small - holding back her blond hair ), recorded this title very innocently . Fortunately! Otherwise the song would not have this slender little air which suits it so well...

NOCTURNAL WRITING

If Jacques Dutronc is a fine poet when it comes to talking about a Paris awakening, he nevertheless wrote this song by candlelight ... It was during a meal with Jacques Wolfohn and Lanzmann that the idea of Five o'clock Paris wakes up , inspired by the song Painting of Paris at five o'clock in the morning dating from 1802. The night following this meal will give birth to one of the most beautiful odes to Parisian life in the early morning ...

THE UNEXPECTED

Opening night at the Olympia, Brel performedAmsterdam for the first time. Not liking this song, he decided to sing it as the opening song of his concert. " We won't talk about that one anymore ," he was wrong on that one. The audience, captivated, gave him a standing ovation and took a few minutes to sit down again. We would have loved to have witnessed this historic musical moment , wearing a beautiful Jacques bow ...

QUESTION OF THOUGHT

Studying a song in class? We would have loved to! The niece of Hervé Cristiani , author ofIl est libre Max, found herself faced with the exercise . The singer took the opportunity to do the homework himself, and be assessed on his ability to analyze his own song ... He only got an 8/20 with the assessment "Did not grasp the author's thoughts". The subtlety of the musical world, definitely...

SHELLFISH AND CRUSTACEANS...

On the abandoned beach... There we are, we feel like we are on the edge of the creeks! Our boater on the head, strolling with your feet in the water , on the beaches of Saint-Tropez. If you have the chance to go there this summer, look for La Madrague … yes, like the song. It is nothing more nor less than the property of Brigitte Bardot.

LITTLE BONUS: THE FUNNY FALSE NOTE

Have you ever heard the laughter at the beginning of Roxane Police? No, no, it's not a stylistic effect in the "boy bands are so coooool" mode, but rather Sting who, while sitting at the piano , played a wrong note . Which made him laugh [ it doesn't take much to be happy...] ...

Since we're so nice , we've grouped these songs and a selection of must-haves into a playlist :
It's love at the beach.... aouuuh tcha tcha tcha!
