Our story with Jodie began almost a year ago. She wrote to us after falling in love with Léon : our black velvet bow. It was love at first sight on Instagram; we loved her style! This little French girl from Rennes opened a little door to her world for us. She wears many of our accessories, which she showcases perfectly with photographs, much to our delight.

We love Jodie so much that we wanted to know more about her, her background, her daily life, her ambitions.

Today, she confides in us and tells us about her career and her life as an influencer.

• Could you briefly describe your background? What inspired you to take the plunge and create your Instagram account?

Last year I was a communications and web marketing student in Rennes. I was doing an internship in the fashion industry (obviously [laughs]) where I was a community manager . At the time, I had an Instagram account but it was private like many people. Being on Instagram all day for my job pushed me to get started . It's something that attracted me . My boyfriend helped me a lot. He thought I had a rather assertive and unique style . During our vacation in Bordeaux last July he said to me " I'll take a picture of you, you post it on your account, if it works great, if not too bad " I listened to him and it worked out pretty well !

• You went from 6k to over 60k in just a few months. What do you think are the keys to success? What allowed you to go so quickly?

I don't really know... I've asked myself several times " but why me? " There are so many girls on Instagram !

I post every day , I think it's very important. Stay yourself because others are already taken , and take enough distance to not overdo it . If it works, great, if not, too bad ! I think you shouldn't worry too much, that's my motto in life [laughs].

• What is the daily life of an influencer like?

Personally, I have a job outside of Instagram. I get up in the morning at 9 a.m. , I go to work and I get home around 6:30 p.m. In general, I take my photos at lunchtime or in the evening with my great photographer ( my boyfriend! ) or with friends if I'm going for a drink for example. I sometimes have events or photoshoots in Paris or abroad. I'm lucky to be my own boss so I can get there quite easily. It's cool !

• What's your relationship with brands? How many requests do you receive per week? Do you accept all projects? Do you earn money from your Instagram account?

I'm in contact with a few brands , on short or long-term partnerships . I get between 20 and 30 emails a day , so per week... that's a lot [laughs]! I'd say around a hundred requests on social media per week . No, I don't accept everything ! Fortunately, I sometimes get absurd offers. I don't want to collaborate with just anyone for just anything ! Absolutely not. Yes, I've been making money from Instagram for a few months now. 

• What is your goal with this Instagram account? Where do you see yourself in a year?

My goal is to continue posting my looks , my passions , my life in general ! In a year… I would like to have even more opportunities , nice projects … Also, living in Paris is quite simple but it has been a dream for a few years now. I love Paris enormously. I live day by day so we will see !

• How do you find the balance between digital and real life? Does this social media presence have an impact on your personal life?

I make time for both . I manage to separate my life from my Instagram account, where I share certain things about my life. It doesn't necessarily have an impact on my private life ; I'm still the same , nothing changes.

• What are your fashion inspirations?

My fashion inspirations come from fashion magazines like Vogue, l'Officiel, Vanity Fair ... and ready-to-wear and haute couture fashion shows . Since I've been more active on Instagram , I've also been inspired by influencers like Negin Mirsalehi. I love her !

• Do you have any advice for people who want to get started on Instagram?

My advice would be to stay true to yourself as said above, to enjoy doing it and to do it above all out of passion .

• What Scrunchie Is Back accessories would you recommend to your subscribers for the summer?

All [laughs]! You know how much I love Scrunchie is Back , I have at least 6 pieces at home! I love the brand already because they are quality pieces , handmade in Paris, but especially because I love its very French style which totally suits me . If I had to recommend an accessory for the coming summer it would be the Foulchie Alma … I need it ! You are just the TOP girls , keep it up , we love what you do!
