Hair is a mystery we've been trying to unravel since we were old enough to take care of it ourselves. We're never happy with what we have: we have curly hair, we want it straight ! And vice versa...
The only way to live in harmony with our mane is to tame it so that it resembles at least a little the one we would like to have in reality! For this, there are a whole bunch of products as mystical as our hair. There are treatments for all types, colors... There are so many criteria! It's enough to drive us crazy!
But don't panic, the Scrunchie team has decided to shed light on this complex problem!
To do this, we interviewed two girls who are close to the brand, with completely different hair. If you have curly and/or bleached hair, you will find the solution to your problems !
Camille, Scrunchie model
Her mane of hair didn't go unnoticed. Long, beautiful curly hair in a bob featured in our Instagram feed. We decided to ask Camille about her curly hair routine, as we know it's a tricky texture to manage!
Since when have you had long hair?
My hair length wasn't always like this, I went from a very short mushroom-shaped bob with atrociously crooked bangs cut by myself to a sick length. I've had very long hair for three years now, it reaches my lower back.
Do you cut them regularly? If so, by how many centimeters and how often?
I try to cut my hair from time to time, I'm not very punctual. Actually, it depends on my mood. Generally, I do it every six months. I cut the ends, so about two or three centimeters. After that, I never really know, hairdressers like to cut a little more! It's important to cut it from time to time so it can grow better and faster.
Do you have a technique for keeping your curls in shape all day long?
My technique for keeping my curls in shape all day is very simple. First, I let my hair down in the morning, then I apply serum to moisturize them, give them a good bounce and a nice shine. For me, this technique is enough!
Do you perfume your hair? With what?
Yes, I do! It's one of my best-kept hair secrets. Every morning I use Victoria Secret scented mist; my favorite is "Amber Romance." The result is light, but it's the extra touch that really makes all the difference.
How often do you shampoo?
The frequency of my shampoos is ideally twice a week. It's a habit to get into over time, even if you have to accept that it may be a little greasy at first. Over time, the scalp adapts and it gets greasy much less quickly! It's very bad to wash them every day, it prevents growth and beautiful, healthy hair. Little tip: I only wash the roots and I go down just a little bit to the lengths. On my lengths and ends, I leave my mask on for 10 minutes then I rinse everything out.
Do you have a routine before washing them?
The pre-shampoo differs depending on the condition of my hair and my mood, sometimes I leave organic Aloe Vera GEL on overnight - preferably - or directly taken from the plant. When I have less time I prepare a little oil bath. Personally I love: coconut oil , argan oil , macadamia oil, castor oil - which promotes growth -, avocado oil and jojoba oil . After putting all this on your hair, you will have to wait at least 1 hour 30 minutes before shampooing for optimal hydration!
Do you use an oil or something else between shampoos to moisturize them?
Between shampoos I only put serum on my hair, nothing more, nothing less.
Before going to bed, do you do anything in particular to avoid ending up with a tuft of hair in the morning?
Before going to bed, I don't brush my hair, I only comb it after shampooing to avoid the hellish tuft. Obviously, I try to remove my knots every day, even between shampoos. So in the evening, I braid it. This allows me to have beautiful hair when I wake up, and not break or damage it during the night. Then a little serum to enhance everything!
Audelia, Scunchie intern
You've probably seen her hair all over Instagram: in stories, in our feed, and even in ads! And many of you have wanted to know more about her hair care. Here are all her secrets!
Describe your hair to us!
In the photos, my hair looks pretty straight. That's because I blow-dry it, and it makes it shinier! But in reality, I have uneven waves.
What did you do to your hair to get blonde highlights?
Every summer I have highlights like this, but this year they disappeared very quickly. I decided last February to get a mid-length balayage (at Mod's hair Paris ) to accentuate this sun-lit effect!
Bleaching is very damaging to hair. How do you maintain it?
I was warned that I would have to take more time to take care of it, but lazy as I am, I failed in my duty and my ends became white and broken after three months! I learned my lesson haha. I went to get my ends cut by 5 cm at the start of the school year and since then I haven't stopped using a lot of products. I also use a boar bristle brush that doesn't damage the hair and makes it shiny as well as Scrunchie scrunchies for sleeping. We don't realize but their fabric prevents the elastic from breaking the hair!
What's your routine?
I have a routine every other week. Having two at home, I'm often too lazy - again - to carry my bottles. But when I do it, I mainly use three products: Melvita conditioner for colored hair, organic and natural castor oil , as well as Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse .
I use conditioner after every hair wash. As for the two oils, I alternate them. In the evening, I apply a medium amount of Nuxe oil to my ends before going to bed, when I know I'm going to wash my hair the next day. The downside of this oil is that it has a greasy effect on the hair. You can't go outside with it! When I have more time, I put castor oil all over my hair and wrap it in a towel to let it sit overnight. The next day, I wash it several times to remove everything.
Do you use anything between your shampoos?
Sometimes in the morning I use a prodigious amount of oil to give my ends a shinier look when I find them dull. It nourishes them at the same time!
Otherwise, since I work at Scrunchie I have unlimited access to our perfume . I don't skimp on spraying it in my hair haha! The smell is divine!
